Hospital Comments

Open Heart Surgery

Participating in Keystone ICU- ventilator weaning protocol. Limiting prophylactic antibiotic treatment to 48 hours for open heart patients. Implementing recommended treatment to decrease incident of atrial fibrillation post-open heart surgery.

Percutaneous Coronary Interventions

PCI-1 data is through 1st quarter 2006. Implemented STEMI Protocol. Empowered Emergency Room physicians to read & diagnose the 12-Lead EKG and activate the on-call team to streamline the process. Decreased door to EKG time. On-call team is on a global pager. End of day QA check of available equipment ready to use in Cath Lab. Working with Wayne County to pursue wireless transmission of EKG from ambulance to our Emergency Room. Appropriated parking spaces in front of the hospital for on-call teamparking to decrease their time to get into hospital. Hospital president mandated the use of AMI order sets. Posted signs in elevators, physician lounges, and nursing units on requirements for discharge instructions.

Low Birthweight Infants

We participate in and have access to Neonatal NICU Network at the NICHD.
