Governor Makes Designation to State Commission on Patient Safety | |

October 22, 2004 LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the designation of the Michigan Health and Safety Coalition (MH&SC) to act as the State Commission on Patient Safety. The Commission on Patient Safety will conduct public hearings and write a report containing recommendations for improvements in medical practice and a system for reducing errors, both in health facilities and in private practice. The Commission will hold three public hearings to seek input from the public, health professions organizations, health providers, and organizations that are interested in patient safety. The MH&SC is a group of 15 organizations that includes health plans and major employers as well as hospital, physician, consumer and labor organizations in the state. Its mission is to help improve health care quality and patient safety across all care settings. The Michigan Health and Safety Coalition is designated to act as the State Commission for Patient Safety for a term expiring November 27, 2005.
