Membership
MH&SC membership is diverse, and includes representatives from health care plans, health care providers, employer and consumer groups and the Michigan Department of Community Health . The coalition anticipates the need to work with other entities and experts (academics, legislators, legal, systems, and data analysts) to carry out the actions specified by the coalition.
Activities
The coalition’s work is focused on:
- implementing the State Commission on Patient Safety recommendations
- convening collaborative workgroups focused on targeted patient safety practices based on performance data collected in Michigan and national patient safety surveys
- coordination of patient safety activities with other groups – such as health care information technology - to help communicate issues related to patient safety to key stakeholders and the public and avoid duplication of effort.
